Joanna and Josh are two of the most generous souls I know. They open their hearts, their home, and their family to foster children from all backgrounds and families. Since we first met over seven years ago, they have awed me with their capacity to love.
Joanna’s own grandmother and aunt and uncle were put in foster care as children so fostering children is very personal to her. She and Josh are an incredible team and make such an impact in the lives of the children that come into their home. They have been able to support reuniting some of the children with their families and also adopted one of the children in their care.
“We rejoice in whatever small work we can do with the small time they are with us,” says Joanna.
But a big part of fostering is about “celebrating differences and appreciating and enjoying people for who they are and learning from them and growing as a person.”
Joanna and Josh are passionate about photographing their children and celebrating their unique spirits, especially when they are at transitional ages like three and eight. “It is definitely, a more permanent record. Family is really important to us. And I like commemorating it in a meaningful way. And I value it. It’s not cheap. But it’s important.
It’s important to show your kids what’s important to you.”
